Summer Boat Trips in Chichester Harbour

Chichester Harbour Discovery boat trips

A boat trip in Chichester Harbour is one of the best ways to experience the natural beauty, history and peaceful charm of this very special area. This summer we have a wide range of boat trips to choose from, and some special events too!

Harbour Discovery – over the summer our boat trips depart from Emsworth, a beautiful harbour town. Perfect for families, this trip offers a wonderful way to explore the harbour, discover unique coastal habitats and find out more about the history of the area. Kids travel for just £5.

Seal Safaris– Chichester Harbour is home to a large rookery of seals. On selected dates we offer quiet and peaceful boat tours to observe the harbour seals and grey seals in their natural habitat. Our schedule is planned with our lead seal expert to provide optimum viewing conditions, whilst taking account of breeding seasons and WISE guidelines to ensure we avoid disturbing our wildlife.

Evening Cruises – take a trip at the end of the day for a quiet and peaceful way to explore the harbour in the beautiful light of dusk. Bring an extra layer – it can be chilly on the water – and your phone or camera to snap the sunset. Our End of Summer evening cruise is scheduled for 20th September and will celebrate the change of the seasons ahead of the Autumn Equinox on 22nd September.

Special Events – our 2025 summer programme includes late afternoon music trips, nature recovery tours highlighting key conservation projects and seascape painting guided boat trips. We’re also celebrating World Ranger Day with a special boat tour on 30th July!

Chichester Harbour is recognised as a National Landscape, one of the UK’s 46 most outstanding locations. From the water, you get to enjoy panoramic views of quiet creeks, salt marshes, rolling countryside and ancient woodlands. And there’s a wealth of wildlife too including seals, seabirds, rare waders, ospreys, herons, terns and curlews – and sometimes dolphins which last summer were spotted near the harbour mouth!

Many of our trips are under 2 hours and suitable for all ages. And picnics are welcome on all trips too. Our boat, Solar Heritage, is fully accessible, quiet and dog-friendly.

If you love peace, nature, and timeless coastal views join us for a gentle cruise this summer in one of England’s prettiest harbours.
