Two boats are available for boat trips in Chichester Harbour. Find out more about Solar Heritage and Oysterboat Terror below:
Solar Heritage
Solar Heritage is an Aquabus C60, a pollution-free, solar-powered catamaran.
The boat was originally designed to ferry visitors to Switzerland’s Three Lakes Region (Les Trois Lacs) as part of the 2002 National Exposition devoted to Nature and Technology. As a result of Heritage Lottery funding Solar Heritage was acquired by Chichester Harbour Conservancy in 2004. The boat arrived in Itchenor in May 2004, following a 24-hour drive across Europe on three articulated lorries. On arrival she was reconstructed by her Swiss engineers, who travelled to the UK especially for the occasion.
Solar Heritage is owned and operated by Chichester Harbour Conservancy to provide access for all to Chichester Harbour National Landscape.
Oysterboat Terror
Oyster Boat Terror is a beautifully-restored Victorian wooden sailing boat that originally supported the oyster industry in Emsworth.
She was restored with Heritage Lottery funding between 2004 and 2006. She is owned by Chichester Harbour Conservancy and maintained by volunteers from the Friends of Chichester Harbour.
She offers private charter experiences between May and September, sailing from Emsworth.
Terror is a non-profit making venture, run by volunteers from the charity Friends of Chichester Harbour
